Just wondering about a little something in regards to Lithium as I've had a few similar experiences in a row now. As you all know from my babble post I've been going up in mood, but today this reoccuring thing happened and literally stopped me dead. Now I need to explain lol, not very good at that right now but I'll try. What is happening quite frequently is I feel myself about to lose control and my brain almost stops dead, I mean I literally stop altogether. I was chatting to a mate about a game we were about to play, I was very happy and eager about it as its something we've not played in years and as my mood went to elevate I was standing there to such a point that my mate actually thought I was asleep standing. My breathing slowed down, my mind went blank and I couldn't do anything for at least a couple of seconds.
This is something I've only experienced since starting lithium a few years back, its almost as if I'm being robbed of emotion and the ability to function on any other level than mid way. Is this the dreaded zombie effect that people go on about?

Could be... I used to draw blanks, but it was never like I was asleep standing up. Lithium can really zone you out sometimes. Maybe keep track of what time of day it happens..is it just after a dose, or maybe when a dose is wearing off? Then maybe tell the Doc?

Blank is a good way of summing it up, to explain why my friend thought I might be asleep is due to the slowed breathing. I have a few problems with my chest that literally mean i can sound like I'm snoring while awake if I don't pay attention to how I'm breathing.

I think that if Pdocs ever had to experienced the "blankness" from meds they might understand why so many Bipolars don't want to take their meds. They should do a clinical study...see how they like it!

Oh now theres an idea, sticking them on the meds to see how it feels, I think there should be a worldwide vote for that one!!

I would like to see that I would even like some of my family to have to use them just enough to see how it feels.

That's what they need to invent, a machine that allows you to live a day as a bipolar, just so people would actually have a little insight. Naturally a day is nothing but if you say gave them a day or mania and a day or depression it would at the very least open their eyes.
