So far so good on the Lamictal/lamotrigine.  It seemed to work very quickly and I was surprised but then I'm also on lithium so maybe that's why I dunno.  I have noticed lately is I am feeling better, like good instead of depressed.  Good most of the time, things don't bother me as much but I feel a bit edgy (not hyper and bouncing off the walls) I'm still impulsive and fidget like somebody w/ ADHD.  I feel like that won't go away or something.  One of the side effects can be mania...that's all I need again.  But my sleep is good though.

Lamictal is some good stuff. It is one of the meds that I have always been on. Didn't k now it could cause mania.

Yeah in the thing they gave me at the pharmacy, it specifically warns about possibly causing mania yet is approved for the long term treatment of BP1.  Go figure but everybody is different and I'm giving it a try...it also warns about causing suicidal thoughts/behaviors as well.  Time will tell.

I've been having some problems swallowing my Lamictal. It is not brand-name it is generic. My problem is that it starts to dissolve as soon as I try to swallow it. I don't have this problem with any of my other meds. Of course I don't have any pills that large that are chalky. I was wondering if anyone has tried the alternatives? I believe there is a dissoluble tablet and a liquid? I just started having this problem within the last month or so. It is really disgusting.    Help

Mine did that too...but it didn't bother me, I thought it kind of tasted good.  I swallowed it with almond milk, no problem...but water wasn't as easy.

Are yall getting them in higher doses than 25 mg tabs? They have me on 25mg now then 2 weeks go to 50 then 2 weeks go to 100. Mine are little triangles. Not so much chalky.

Yep I had the same problem. I was okay with the 100mg tabs but once I switched to the 200mg tabs I could barely swallow them. Plus for some reason when i switched to the 200 I started having really bad nausea. So I switched to the dissolving ones. I love them. They don't taste bad and it has helped my compliance too! I usually forget to take meds until I'm in the car on my way to work. So with these I can take them anywhere even if I don't have water. I really like Lamictal I think it works well but I wish it helped with the irritability...

I have been on Lamictal for like... I wanna say 2 years or three (Hard to remember after a while). I really like it. It helps quite a bit. Way better than my last meds if I recall. I take it with seroquel at night and by itself in the morning with some vitamin D (which is supposed to help BP). I take the generic normally and it is way chalky. I mean just look a the bottom of the bottle! I take mine in one swallow with like a few other pills and I don't really notice anymore.

Lamictal was deffinitely helpful for my moods, seemed to keep me fairly stable.  I did have days though where I just felt really lethargic.  And I did gain about 25 lbs.  Most of which I've lost since I stopped taking Lamictal.  Overall though, it did seem to help while I was on it.  Did anyone else gain weight on this?

Nope. Seroquel has contributed to all of my weight gain. Sad

I liked Lamictal. but I had a head ache for two solid months.  When I told the shrink that he said fuck it, stop taking it.  I ended up on Lithium...  So far no problems.  I'm still a spaz, so I don't know if it has helped a lot, but I think it has helped a little.
