I was diagnosed with depression/anxiety at 16 or 17 ( but symptoms started before then).

As far as I know I have not but I went to the same doc for a few years who never told me what he thought.  I found out once I went to switch doctors that he had diagnosed me Bipolar a year before.

No, I made an appointment when I was depressed but by the time it was time for the appointment I was getting manic.

I am really concerned by the lack of knowledge about bipolar disorder especially of the cyclothymic and bipolar II varieties and the seemingly high rates of misdiagnosis. (Of course, there is more to know about bipolar I and the brain in general too!) I can't wait until brain science develops further...

The milder types are harder to diagnose because the symptoms are less obvious but the person afflicted suffers in the meantime.
