"People with a higher caffeine intake, from sources such as coffee, tea and caffeinated energy drinks, are more likely to report hallucinatory experiences such as hearing voices and seeing things that are not there, according to the Durham University study."

I found this on http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/01/090113203901.htm

I do have problems with hallucinations and delusions, mostly auditory.  Some episodes are worse than others.  I assumed it was just the course of the illness but I wonder if that could be a contributing factor.

Coffee makes me bounce of the walls like a ADHD kid on crack.  I have to be carefull with caffeine, limit it to one cup of green tea.

I hear ya, Dreamline...coffee does the same thing to me! I thought I was the only one that happened to, as everyone I know drinks coffee. I only drink tea, and if I have more than 2 cups I am flying high...that includes iced tea...one large glass is all I can have before or else I'm talking nonstop and bouncing off the walls.

It's an anti-depressant for me--so are cigarettes, but nobody will ever say so

Ona  slightly diff note, I drank some kava tea about 6 weeks ago...just one cup and it made me high...not relaxed like it does not normal people...but friggin high and speedy..not for a few hours but a few days.  I was starting to think it was going to escalate and I'd be back at the pdoc...but I came down.  Isn't that weird how even on meds, something like that can affect you so much?

Coffee in small amounts has anti-depressant effects on me too. I have to have one in the morning with my meds to feel like I can get up and go - is that psychological or physiological? Maybe a bit of both. I will generally have one cup more in the middle of the day and then another in the evening when I get home. I like tea as well but haven't been drinking much lately.

I had one large cup of iced coffee from mcdonalds two weeks ago and it took more than a week for me to calm down. But i love me some sleepytime tea.

LOL  I drink different herbal stuff at bedtime like hops, mint, oregano, camomile, lavender, rooibos, basil (awesome) and bay leaf tea.  Sometimes I drink them in combinations or just alone.  Hops tea has a nice calming effect as it is closely related to cannabis but you have to brew it just right or yuck, nasty bitter shit.  Basil tea is really good if you are sick, it help your immune system.

I buy all my tea herbs at the health food store in bulk or pick them fresh from my garden.  I have a reusable tea bag for them and they stay fresh forever when stored in mason jars.  I love tea! Smiley
