ICD-9 codes
«

I was looking up the codes for a friend of mine who has major depression and ADHD. I noticed they have all these diff codes for bipolar 1 but not for bipolar 2??? Its not listed it just has a category for "all other bipolar disorders and unspecified bipolar disorders".
I looked up mine:
296.40
Bipolar i disorder, most recent episode (or current) manic unspecified degree
manic episode of the major affective disorder bipolar depression; tendency to remission and recurrence and to swing to the major depressive episode.

When I go to get my lab work, there is a paper that I have to take with me. It has a space, it says diagnosis and there's a number written in there and it it says what code its in. So I looked it up on the internet.

mine was 296.42...with OCD features, and also 309.81 PTSD[shell shock from siblings suicides]
I was also recently diagnosed ADD, but didn't see the code # for that one

Technically that means your last episode was manic (moderate)...I wonder why mine is unspecified? I guess they're afraid I'll look it up
