Can't seem to find the right meds

It makes me so crazy to think that I have to be on meds in the first place, but it makes me even crazier when I can't seem to get the right combination down! Currently I am on 5 different meds and it doesn't seem like they are doing anything beneficial. My CPN has changed my meds like every other month and this is getting tiring. There are certain drugs I absolutely will not take, so that limits my options. I refuse to take anything that makes me gain anymore weight. I have gained like 80 lbs since being on psych meds again and I can't stand it!! I am just feeling very hopeless about the situation. And I have now run into another dilemma...I can't afford all of my meds. I lost my insurance and now I am paying over $600 just for one prescription for one month!!! I applied for government assistance, but apparently I make too much money. So, now I am trying the pharmeceutical companies for help. If my doctor can't give me any samples or free Rx's I am so screwed. While my medicine seems to not be working properly it still keeps me somewhat sain. I was diagnosed with BPII when I was 18 and was on meds for 3 or 4 years. Then my BP seemed to go into "remission" and I thought I was cured. I was fine for like 4 or 5 years after that and then one day I totally lost it and ended up doing some crazy things. Now I feel like I am never going to get better because ever since then I have been struggling...HARD.

I know you don't have insurance, but is ECT an option?
Perhaps there is some way for you to have it.
It saved my life.

What is ECT?
Electro-Convulsive-Therapy. It's sometimes called shock therapy.
It's not as bad as it sounds, though some people are really against it.
Mostly because they don't really know what happens and how effective it is.
I've had 22 treatments. The usual is 10 - 12.
There is some memory loss, but most of it comes back.
Look it up on mayoclinic.com and talk to your doc.
You'll want to make an informed decision, if this is even a possibility.

I have to say that I am not apposed to the idea, but I would be afraid to try it, plus I don't know if I would be able to afford it. I am not even able to afford all of my medications. I am going to the CPN today, I will research it and maybe see what he says.

In my insurance lapse of 2 years...got samples from my p/doc & 2 public program. Needy Meds & Montel William's medication program (Google free medications) A female friend gets her meds at the homeless shelter & the free clinic. (she is not homeless...just insuranceless) ECT is a good choice...been there done that...like Ramji, saved my life. There are alternative treatments for BPD...traditional mental health pushes medication...then ECT. Have much more to say...have to go to a meeting...later Joe Buck (Bob)

I am working on getting assistance through pharmeceutical companies that were links from the montel williams site. I am just having a hard time because allot of programs are saying that I make too much money, when in all reality, I pretty much make minimum wage. With rent, groceries, bills, etc. I can't afford everything. My Rx's come out to be about $1000 a month, which would leave me not even enough to pay rent, let alone groceries and bills! God help me! Even if I didn't have to pay rent I would still not have enough for groceries or bills by themself. I just don't understand how I don't qualify for ANYTHING.

My doctor, however, did give me a 30 supply of two of my 5 meds for free and I can afford Trazadone which is only $4. I just hope I will be straight with only 3 meds! So that is good news that I have 3 off them for 30 days!
