As I've told you before, my new pdoc refuses to prescribe both Geodon and Seroquel like i was on with my previous dr. The Geodon really helps with my anger, rage, irritability, but I'm getting no sleep, AGAIN.
Does anyone take a sleep med that works besides Seroquel? It can not be an antipsychotic, as that is the reason that the dr. won't prescribe it for me. She says she has no reason to justify giving me two antipsychotics. ugh

I take Lunesta, but my pdoc also increased me seroquel since my sleep was all whacked up. BUT... you could try the Lunesta (or whatever sleeping med you go on) with a little ativan or klonopin, or valium, whatever you use for anxiety. That is another tip my pdoc gave me.

I take clonidine. I don't remember what class of drug it is from but it is a very old drug so I doubt that it could be an atypical or regular antipsychotic. Works pretty well for me if I take it at the same time as I take a dose of klonopin and my nightly trileptal. It does make a difference because I cannot sleep if I don't take the clonidine.

If you are still having problems with sleep, maybe you can try Restoril (temazapam). As you know, I am on that now and it seems to work well. So far so good anyhow. The only thing is, it doesn't make you sleepy, it just keeps you asleep. I don't wake up with a hang over or anything. But I do take it with my Seroquel and sometimes with a few Ativan on nights where I am sooooo not going to be able to fall asleep. I know, this topic is old, I'm just trying to clean up the cobwebs around here.

I don't have the sleep problem atm except for that I'm sleeping too much. I'm still taking the 50mg of Seroquel because my new doc prescribed it with the Geodon. If I don't take it though, I don't sleep at all.

I have taken Zopiclone too, afaik it's not very addictive but for some reason doctors only want people to take it occasionally to get back into a good sleep pattern rather than becoming dependent on it.

I can't sleep without my Seroquel either... but I'm on 300 mg. Woohoo! lol!

I metabolize meds quickly. I remember when I was first on Seroquel I was a drooling idiot. Had moments where I thought I would pass out. But now, it's no big thang. Except on nights when I have notihg in my tum tum... then I can get goosey. LOL But that is not very often.

I sleep on ativan. When we were trying new meds recently, I took 300 mgs of seroquel, and couldn't sleep on that. Weird, huh.

i know that i've brought this up before but i just want to make sure you guys are aware that for a lot of people seroquel ER or XL seems to work totally differnet for me. it doesn't have the same sedating effect. but if i take it along with restoril or sometimes just xanax it helps. it comes in all different doses. i swear for me it doesn't give me the muncheez any more and it doesn't usually leave me groggy. my pdoc lets me choose how much to take depending on where i'm at. i try to stick with 200mg but i even go as low as 100 and now they have them in 50mg. when my mind starts getting too fast or sleep becomes a problem i move up. it may not work that way for everyone but my pdoc says he's heard this from a lot of his patients.
also i have heard of trazedone for sleep. i don't know what type of med it is.
